Afraid to Die or Afraid to Live?

This poem “Afraid to die or afraid to live?” is reflective of what I’ve been thinking about recently since my birthday on May 27th (shout out to all my Gemini brothers and sisters ;p).

The title may sound a bit extreme, but it’s a true expression of how I feel right now. It seems like after everything that has been highlighted on the news with coronavirus and the murder of George Floyd, we have a chance to collectively wake up to the hidden parts of ourselves that have been lying in our subconscious.

We get a chance to observe our own shadows, fears, and egos as they become exposed. The reality is that we all have parts of ourselves that we are ashamed of or resist, and as we learn how to accept those parts of ourselves, we can life more fully and more genuinely.

Letting go of these fears allows us to truly live. I’m excited for this challenge and opportunity, and I hope this poem inspires you to examine if you are afraid to die or afraid to live.

Thank you so much for reading!! May you have the courage to truly LIVE!!

Afraid to Die or Afraid to Live?

Life starts once we face death.

Those moments of depletion

When you feel like nothing’s left.

It’s up to you to choose

How you respond to “bad” news.

And what really makes bad news “bad”?

Maybe it’s your reaction that’s making you sad?

Flip the switch and change your state.

Focus on how you can still make this present moment great.

What do you have to appreciate?

Time, money, energy, space…

We all have the power to create

What do you want to create?

What in your mind would you love to conceive?

Then tap into the energy and start to BELIEVE

I BELIEVE there’s more to life than what we see,

And that this mindset can set us all FREE.

When we can hold hands together and just sit still and BE.

Maybe this is just my personal CRY.

A chance for us to UNIFY

And DEFY this feeling of separation,

Which is an illusion.

We’re playing into our own confusion.

Splitting ourselves from our own FUSION.

It’s time for us to WAKE UP and LIVE.

It’s time for us to WAKE UP and GIVE.

So are you afraid to DIE or afraid to LIVE?
